It all goes back to the age of ten, when I opened my clarinet box for the first time and awakened a desire to create my own musical instruments. I look fondly back at this moment, when I first discovered the smell of the wood and cork, and the fascinating shape of this magnificent instrument.
Later, as a teenager, I picked up an album by the Bothy Band and had my first taste of Irish music. I fell madly in love with the sound of Matt Molloy’s flute, and knew from that moment that I had to play!
In 2002, driven by my fascination for this music, I left for Ireland. It was almost a rite of initiation, leading me to Dublin where I spent several months taking flute lessons and taking part in sessions. I then followed my thirst for the music around the country, cycling all over to sessions and summer schools before finally winding up in a flute workshop in Bray. The craftsman generously took me in for several months.
When I finally returned to Switzerland, I gradually started building up my own workshop in Fribourg and experimented with the form. After many years of learning and experimentation, I finally opened my shop in 2021 and can now offer you the full range of instruments I’ve developed.
